7/10/2013 - Small cars booming in France
Compared to other European countries, the French car market is rocking. Smaller cars are now sold more than higher or higher class models. 52% of registrations in France are now made on models such as Renault Clio, Peugeot 208, Dacia Sandero, or Fiat Panda ... In the rest of Europe, small cars only represent 41% of sales, or 11 points less. In the compact segment (Peugeot 308, Renault Mégane), the decrease was only 1 point, bringing the share of this type of vehicle to 31%. Upper mid-range cars (Citroën C5) are credited with only 12% of sales in France, whereas they still represented 14% last year. The high end is becoming microscopic, with only 5% of sales in France ... while it peaks at 12% in the rest of Europe. Note, the credits for the purchase of a small car must still be compared with each other because, even on a small amount, a rate difference of 1% remains very impactful.
