Back on home soil after taking part in the Grand Circuit north of the border, high-profile harness racing mare Atlanta made a rare qualifying appearance at The Meadows on Monday, October 4th, in preparation for a trip to the Red Mile that weekend.
Rider Dave Palone pulled Atlanta out of his pocket at the 1:28 mark in the third quarter after following the easily ridden three year old filly Sweet Hope and sprinting one final frame of: 26.4, 20 lengths in 1: 54.4 to win over a sloppy route. Four-year-old gelding Laramie and first runner-up One Foot In Heaven followed in second and third place.
The Ron Burke trainee finished third behind winner When Dovescry and runner-up Sorella last time at the $ 233,000 Armbro Flight Stakes on September 17th at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Last year she won the Allerage Farms Open Trot on the Red Mile.

A 29-time career winner, Atlanta amassed $ 3,149,038 in lifetime earnings while collecting an O’Brien Award and a pair of Dan Patch Award trophies.
