Update (September 13th): The new season is now live! Here’s a closer look at what’s been added:

Original instructions: The blog post about Operation: Sky Fire on the official Fortnite website, while not confirmed at the time of writing by Epic Games, does suggest the release date for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 will be on Monday September 13th.

Looking back on past seasons, we can safely assume that Start time for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 will be the following:

  • UK – 9 a.m. (BST)
  • Europe – 10 a.m. (CEST)
  • US East Coast – 4 a.m. (EDT)
  • U.S. West Coast – 1:00 a.m. PDT

Keep in mind that these are estimates and there will be some downtime, including a new patch that you can download.

Before Fortnite Season 8 arrives, however, we can look forward to Operation: Sky Fire, the end of the Season 7 event.

Operation: Enter Sky Fire. on Sunday September 12th at the following times:

  • UK – 9:00 p.m. (BST)
  • Europe – (CEST)
  • US East Coast – 4:00 p.m. EDT
  • U.S. West Coast – (PDT)

The playlist for this event will be available 30 minutes in advance. So, to make sure you get a seat, this is what you should consider. It is also important to note that the event is not repeatable.

You should also spend your final Battle Stars on Season 7 Battle Pass and Alien Artifacts before Operation: Sky Fire takes place. If you don’t, these items will automatically be used for the rewards that were previously available, which could result in you missing out on something you had your eye on.

Finally, even after the release of Operation: Sky Fire, the Superman skin will no longer be available.

What do we know about Fortnite Season 8?

Unlike previous seasons, we don’t know much about Season 8 right now; there was no evidence of that official Fortnite Twitter there was still an ARG like last season. Instead, all eyes are on the end of the Season 7 event – Operation: Sky Fire.

This event will bring the Alien Invasion plot to a close, and as parts of the Corny complex soar into the skies due to the effects of the Alien Mothership, we’ve already seen some map changes in preparation for Operation: Sky Fire.

It is possible that Operation: Sky Fire will have a lasting impact on the Fortnite map in Season 8 as well, since Egyption Fortnite Leaker on Twitter uncovered coding suggesting that Misty Meadows and Dirty Docks will be destroyed during the event.

Our suspicions as to whether these areas will survive Operation: Sky Fire have also grown because they’re two of the places you can post warning signs during one of this week’s legendary quests.

A warning sign in Misty Meadows.

Oddly enough, we have some clues as to what can happen in Fortnite when Halloween rolls around. Fortnite leaker HYPEX Posted on Twitter that loot was added for new ‘The Sideways’ monsters in August.

There were a few leaks for upcoming skins released in-game through the Fortnite Store, but not the Season 8 Battle Pass.

This includes a Naruto skin that has been cleared by Fortnite steamer CandywingX on Twitter after speaking to Donald Mustard, Chief Creative Officer of Epic Games and Fortnite, on his stream.

Reliable Fortnite Leaks Source ShinnaBR from Twitter also posted about the upcoming D’Ark skin starter pack, which we may see on the store during Season 8.

Finally, with the arrival of Operation: Sky Fire and Season 8, it is possible that we will see an update to the overarching Zero Point storyline.

To recap, Zero Point is currently owned by the alien forces threatening the island known as The Last Reality. This came after Raz tried to use Zero Point, and as a result of that invasion, the Foundation – a series of mysterious seven that had locked themselves in Zero Point to prevent its destruction – was sent into the sea.

We don’t currently know where the Foundation is, and the Zero Point hijacking created a crater in the center of the island known as The Aftermath.

Throughout Season 7, we witnessed the clash between the invading aliens and the Imagined Order, also known as the IO, which is apparently the organization that controls the island, or at least invests in its survival.

As told in the weekly legendary quests, we supported Doctor Slone in her attempts to fight the alien invasion. This included exposing the mole in IO operations and turning the alien Joey into a triple agent. The events culminated in the activation of the countermeasure device of the IO and the upcoming operation: Sky Fire.

Doctor Slone leads the IO against the aliens.

Despite all of these extraterrestrial gimmicks, there are still many other questions about Fortnite lore to answer. Where is the foundation? What do the seven want? Is Agent Jones Lost in a Loop? Who are these sisters that the foundation is looking for? Is Genō a person or a place? What are the real motives of the IO? Will we ever see Kevin again?

Answer please.

We don’t know if Season 8 will answer any of these, but it’s nice to hope!
