Twin B Joe Fresh teases $47,975 Tompkins-Geers


In the first major stakes race for two-year-olds, the $47,975 Tompkins-Geers Stake for Trotting Pacing Colts, nine young ladies took to the track at The Meadowlands on Friday night and when the dust settled the score was 6 : 1 Twin B Joe Fresh (Roll with Joe) with the highest honor.

It was lioness by the sea (Below on this page) and driver Todd McCarthy exit post nine and take control of Hungry For Love (stay hungry) and driver Andy McCarthy after an opening quarter-mile of 28.2. Ucandoite Blue Chip (Keystone speed) and driver Scott Zeron sat in third place at the edge of the woods.

They went around the half mile in:57.1 and then Dexter Dunn came up with Twin B Joe Fresh for the first time and that flushed Hungry For Love for the first time ahead of the three quarters in 1:25.2.

Early in the stretch, Lioness By The Sea still held the lead, but then Twin B Joe Fresh grabbed them, narrowly holding off Ucandoit Blue Chip to win by a neck in 1:52.2. Lioness By The Sea was third.


It was a lifetime for Twin B Joe Fresh. She is coached by Chris Ryder and was purchased by co-owners Chris Ryder, Dexter Dunn, Peter Trebotica and Barry Spak for $65,000. She paid $15.80 to win her first pari-mutuel start.

the 6th Race co-feature saw Dees Red Delicus (Dexter Dunn) go out of the gate while Incommunicado (Yannick Gingras) also went and made the two-hole trip. In the first quarter in: 27.2, Sonofamystery and driver Brian Sears in: 55.1 were first going to the half-mile.

Then it was Gingras who came by first with Incommunicado at 1:23, and after that second cover came Ahundreddollarbill and McCarthy.

Coming out of the last corner it was Incommunicado who took on Sonofamystery and Dee’s Red Delicus and then, halfway down, Todd McCarthy brought Ahundreddollarbill out of cover and shot past both horses to finish in 1:50 .2 by two lengths to win. Sonofamystery was second, Dee’s Red Delicous third.


It was a lifetime mark and the first win in three starts this year for Ahundreddollarbill. He is coached by Tony Alagna for owners Crawford Farms Racing and James Crawford IV. He paid $14.20 to win.

BROWER MASTER AGAIN: Dave Brower had another big night in The Big M’s Battle of the Masterminds handicap tournament, turning his mythical $500 bankroll into $1,090 by winning for the third time in the first five nights of the competition.

If customers had followed all of Brower’s selections up to this point, they would have made a profit of $2,165.

The competition will continue every night until August 5th. Customers along the route who select the winning handicapper and then win a random drawing on a specific night are eligible for the $10,000 grand prize.

Brower, Dave Little, Jessica Otten, Edison Hatter and Ken Warkentin will compete every night through August 5th. The grand prize winner will be determined on Hambletonian Day, August 6th.

A LITTLE BIT MORE: With a $5,731 carry powering the machine, the 20-cent pick-6 ended up with a total pool of $34,675. Those with winning tickets walked away with $1,460.46. Only one horse during the sequence left at odds greater than 5-2. … Todd McCarthy, Andy McCarthy and Scott Zeron all picked up driving doubles. … Coach of the week Edwin Quevedo wants a second straight trophy after putting a pair on the road to victory.
