US Sailing complements management team

BRISTOL, RI (November 11, 2021) – US Sailing has announced two new additions to its management team for the end of 2021. Jon Persch (Bristol, RI) will join US Sailing as Chief Marketing Officer and Andrew Clouston (Newport, RI) will join US Sailing as Senior Vice President, Programs and Services.

Jon Persch, Chief Marketing Officer, brings extensive experience to his role at US Sailing after building his career in both the national and international sports landscape. With over 27 years of experience in the sports marketing industry, Persch is responsible for the integrated sports and communications marketing of the US Sailing Association and the US Sailing Team. Prior to US Sailing, Persch served as Chief Commercial Officer for USA Rugby in Boulder, Colorado and Chief Commercial Officer for Major League Rugby. During his career he also held senior positions for WWE, Creative Artists Agency and United Entertainment Group – Edelman. No stranger to the NGB and Team USA space, while at USA Rugby Persch was part of the executive team responsible for the inclusion of Rugby 7 in the Olympics and the United States’ successful bid for the Rugby 7 World Cup in 2018 Originally from New England, Persch completed his bachelor’s thesis at the University of New Hampshire, where he worked as a college athlete. After playing international rugby, he later received his MBA / MS in Sports Commerce from the University of Memphis. Jon has officially moved to the team from Boulder, Colorado, is single, and now lives in Bristol, Rhode Island.

Andrew Clouston joins US Sailing as Senior Vice President of Programs and Services, responsible for youth and adult programs, competition, education, offshore, regatta administration and information technology. Andrew brings a wealth of experience from an accomplished background in the sport, including thirteen years with Yachting New Zealand, the national governing body for sailing in New Zealand, most recently as Chief Operating Officer. Andrew’s previous roles include the Nominee Expert and Regional Development Coordinator for World Sailing and Maritime New Zealand Operations Manager for the 36thNS America’s Cup. Andrew contributed to the sport who serves on the Para World Sailing Committee and the Development and Regions Committee of World Sailing. He was also a board member of the New Zealand Chapter of Young Professionals in Yachting, a professional group dedicated to advancing the industry, networking and ultimately the success of young professionals in the global yachting industry. Andrew is originally from Auckland, New Zealand and officially graduated from the University of Auckland with a degree in Marketing and Management. Andrew moved to the United States this year with his Michigan native wife, Kathleen, and their young daughter, and currently resides in Newport, Rhode Island.

The new additions from Persch and Clouston complete the redesigned US Sailing Leadership Team, which includes:

  • Heather Monoson as Chief Financial Officer in June 2020
  • Jill Nosach as Chief Development Officer in November 2020
  • Paul Cayard as Executive Director of US Olympic Sailing in March 2021
  • Alan Ostfield as Chief Executive Officer in May 2021

The new leadership team, assembled by US Sailing President Cory Sertl and her Board of Directors, represents the commitment to excellence that has been a cornerstone of Sertl’s presidency.

“We have all faced challenges in the last year and a half that we have never seen before, but we tackled them directly and took the hurdles in order to come out stronger on the other side,” says Sertl. “I am very much looking forward to this new era of US Sailing and the leadership team we have put together is well placed to lead and support the talented people, dedicated volunteers and passionate sailors around the country.”

Persch and Clouston officially started with US Sailing on October 25thNS and both work from US Sailing headquarters in Bristol, Rhode Island.
